FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - PROVIDING CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTING TO THE COUNTY OF SACRAMENTO

The Contract and Purchasing Services Division does NOT handle large construction contracting. Large construction projects are handled by the County's Municipal Services Agency, Contract Services Section.

The following information will provide you with information about construction and related professional contracting process with the County of Sacramento. If you need additional information, please contact the Contract Services Section at (916) 874-8434.

Where is the Contract Services Section located?
The Contract Services Section is located at 827 7th Street, Room 304C, Sacramento, CA 95814, and is available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.., Monday through Friday.

Where can I locate bidding opportunities for construction projects?
Current bidding opportunities for Municipal Services construction contracts are available by clicking on the Major Construction link under Current Bids Available. The Bids Available page will provide you with information about the bid, the due date, a description of the project, the contractor license required and the design engineer's name and phone number.
Where can I purchase plans and specifications for these projects?
If you are interested in a project listed you may purchase the plans and specifications at the Public Works Agency, Technical Resources Section, located in the County Administration Building, 827-7th Street, Room 105, Sacramento, CA 95814, telephone (916) 874-6544 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Standard Construction Specifications, which are incorporated by reference in the Contract Documents, are also on sale at the above location for $30.00. (All construction jobs require knowledge of the Standard Construction Specifications.)

NOTICE:The Standard Construction Specifications, which are incorporated by reference in the Contract Documents, are revised and effective for contracts approved for advertisement for bids on and after January 1, 2008. For any contract approved for advertisement prior to March 15, 2004, the September 2001 version of the Specifications shall apply unless otherwise stated in the Special Provisions. For any contract approved for advertisement after March 15, 2004, but prior to January 1, 2008, the March 2004 version of the Specifications shall apply unless otherwise stated in the Special Provisions. All addenda or variances issued relative to the September 2001 Specifications shall remain in effect for projects subject to the September 2001 Specifications. All addenda or variances issued relative to the March 2004 Specifications shall remain in effect for projects subject to the March 2004 Specifications.

Copies of the revised Standard Construction Specifications may be purchased for the price of $30.00 from County of Sacramento Technical Resources, 827 Seventh Street, Room 105, Sacramento, California. Mail order requests should be sent to County of Sacramento, Municipal Services Agency, Technical Resources, 827 7th Street, Room 105, Sacramento, CA 95814. For all mail orders, there is a postage and handling charge of $7.25 for the first copy, $11.85 for two copies, plus $4.60 for each additional copy over two copies.
